Guyana consumer prices rose 4.4 per cent in first half of 2026
The government says higher food prices were largely behind the rise in prices over the six months to June.

Prices paid by consumers in Guyana climbed 4.4 per cent over the first six months of 2026, the Government's 2026 Mid-Year Report shows.
The Department of Public Information said prices at the end of June 2026 were 4.4 per cent higher than at the end of 2025. It said the rise came largely from higher food prices.
News Source Guyana published the figure on 29 October 2026, citing the Mid-Year Report.
The Bureau of Statistics measures consumer prices through the Georgetown Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The Bureau's January 2026 release put the Georgetown CPI at 148.14, up 0.7% from December 2025. That month marks the start of the 2026 period the Mid-Year Report covers.
A year earlier, the Bureau's June 2025 release showed a one-month jump in prices, led by food. The Georgetown CPI stood at 147.60 at the end of June 2025, up from 144.48 at the end of May 2025. The Bureau put the monthly inflation rate at 2.2%.
