The FPSO Errea Wittu, a ship built for the Uaru oil project, has arrived in Guyana.

MODEC, Inc. announced the ship's safe arrival in a statement published on 24 August 2026. FPSO stands for Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel. It is a floating ship that produces oil, stores it and offloads it. Kaieteur News reported on 20 October 2026 that the FPSO for the project had already arrived.

The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago said the Ministry of Natural Resources reports that the Errea Wittu arrived on 21 August. The ministry calls it Guyana's fifth and largest FPSO. The chamber said the ship was built for the US$12.7 billion Uaru project. The project aims to recover more than 800 million barrels of oil, it said.

MODEC said it built the vessel and will run it. The company is an offshore floating-production contractor. It will also provide operations and maintenance services to ExxonMobil Guyana. The ship will develop the Stabroek block's Snoek, Mako and Uaru resources, the company said.

The Oil & Gas Journal reported that the Errea Wittu is designed to produce 250,000 barrels of oil per day. It can store about 2 million barrels of crude oil. It will operate roughly 200 km from shore, where the sea is 1,690 m deep.

The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago said the Ministry of Natural Resources puts Guyana's current offshore output at about 900,000 barrels a day. The chamber said Minister Bharrat expects Uaru to lift that figure above one million.

The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago reported that the ministry and the minister gave different start-up timings. One pointed to September 2026, and the other to the fourth quarter.

The story was first reported by Kaieteur News.
