ExxonMobil carried out an environmental study for the pipeline. The study also covered the Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) facility. An EIA is an environmental impact assessment. It looks at how a project could affect the area around it.

Kaieteur News reported on 16 October 2026 that the study ExxonMobil did for the pipeline included the NGL facility. iNews Guyana also reported that the Gas-to-Energy EIA assessed the NGL facility.

The Caribbean Investigative Journalism Network reported that the project also had a cumulative impact assessment.

The Caribbean Investigative Journalism Network said the cumulative impact assessment covered the pipeline, the NGL facility and a 300MW power station together. It reported that the assessment concluded the combined activities of the three would have no significant impacts.

The story was first reported by Kaieteur News.
