The new Brickdam building is meant to bring all police headquarters services under one roof, and it is due to open by the end of 2026.

Guyana's new police headquarters, the National Security Tower, is due to open by the end of 2026. It will replace Eve Leary, and the President said, as reported by INews Guyana, that the aim is to free that site to become primarily the Police Academy."}]}
Kaieteur News reported on 20 October 2026 that the Ministry of Home Affairs expects construction to take 30 months. Senior Minister Dr. Ashni Singh announced in July that the police headquarters building had been renamed the National Security Tower.
The project goes by two names: the New Brickdam Police Headquarters and the National Security Tower. Every service now run from Eve Leary will move into the building once it is complete. The aim is a single, modern policing hub with advanced technology.
Stabroek News reported in January 2024 that R. Bassoo & Son's Contracting Company, working with Qingjian Guyana Group Company Inc (CNQC), would build the 12-storey structure. It put the cost at US$28,140,000. It also gave a 30-month estimate for finishing the work.
Stabroek News reported that construction is under way where the 'A' Division Headquarters once stood. A fire on 2 October 2021 destroyed the wooden complex that stood there.
INews Guyana reported that the President wants to move as many services as possible from Eve Leary into the new building. That would free the Eve Leary site to become mainly a police academy. It also said the new building is planned to hold 2,000 personnel.
The story was first reported by Kaieteur News.
