Guyana will host the Global Biodiversity Alliance Summit and Financing Forum, a conference that follows the first Global Biodiversity Alliance Summit. The two-day event runs on 30 and 31 October. It will be held in Georgetown, at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre. More than 140 people from governments, communities and organisations are due to attend.

The Department of Public Information announced the event on 13 October 2026. iNews Guyana also reported on the event on 20 October 2026.

The theme is about turning global promises into practical action and investing in nature. Talks will focus on building financial tools that recognise the value of biodiversity.

The forum follows the first Global Biodiversity Alliance Summit. Guyana hosted that summit in Georgetown from 23 to 25 July 2025.

That first summit launched the Global Biodiversity Alliance. It also endorsed a roadmap and the Georgetown Declaration, a document issued on 23 July 2025.

Signatories of the Georgetown Declaration include heads of state, ministers, multilateral organisations and the private sector. Indigenous peoples, academia and civil society also signed.

The first summit's goals included the global 30×30 target. They also covered finance tools such as biodiversity credits, green bonds and debt-for-nature swaps.

The second summit and financing forum opens on 30 October.
