The housing ministry will supervise road and safety works in La Parfaite Harmonie, the Department of Public Information (DPI) said in a report published on 18 October 2026. The work starts with hardened road shoulders, and lights will follow.

The plan also covers better public spaces, fire hydrants and security cameras, DPI said.

DPI also gave an update on the wider Adequate Housing Programme. It said more than 280 core homes are finished across the programme. Of these, 106 are on the West Bank of Demerara.

It said 242 home improvement subsidies went to West Bank households.

The programme also paid cash entitlements to 14 people affected by the project, DPI said.

This is not the first round of housing work in La Parfaite Harmonie. In August 2021, the Ministry of Housing and Water and the Central Housing & Planning Authority (CH&PA) signed contracts worth more than G$163 million there. They covered core home support and home improvement subsidies.
