Guyana weighs a smaller LNG project or no gas exports
Officials are looking at using the gas at home, for power and petrochemical plants, instead of selling it abroad.

Guyanese officials are considering cutting the size of a planned LNG project. The other choice is to skip exports and use the gas only in Guyana.
Reuters reported the talks on 13 October 2026. BOE Report carried the Reuters wire copy that day. Kaieteur News covered the report in a piece published on 21 October 2026.
With the no-export option, the gas would go only to power and petrochemical plants in Guyana.
Kaieteur News reported that a Reuters exclusive found Exxon has cut the natural gas available for government projects. The report linked the cut to Exxon's crude oil output target.
