Fortuna Mining pays US$5 million to enter Guyana gold project
The payment to Qstone Inc. marks the company's first step into Guyana's mining sector.

Fortuna Mining Corp. has paid Qstone Inc. US$5 million in cash as an option premium that cannot be refunded. The money is for the Quartzstone Gold Project.
An option premium is an upfront fee that pays for an option, meaning a right to act rather than a duty. Because it is non-refundable, Qstone keeps the money whatever happens next.
A report published on 21 April 2026 carried the news. Kaieteur News published its own report on 19 October 2026.
Kaieteur News reported that Fortuna paid when the agreement was signed. It described the payment as "marking its entry into Guyana’s mining sector."
Qstone is a private Guyanese company. The 21 April 2026 report said Fortuna will pay for all exploration and license costs. Exploration is the work of searching for gold and testing what is in the ground.
