Cummings Lodge road link to Aubrey Barker Highway is 75% complete
The new concrete roads link the housing scheme to a main four-lane highway, and the minister says one end will open to vehicles within a week.

Work on 1,800 metres of reinforced concrete roads at the Cummings Lodge Housing Scheme is now 75 percent complete. The roads connect the scheme directly to the Aubrey Barker Four-lane Highway, a main route.
The Department of Public Information said on 26 October 2026 that the roads are 75 percent complete.
iNews Guyana reported that the Aubrey Barker highway also links to the Ogle-Eccles, Mandela to Eccles and Heroes highways.
Cummings Lodge is in Greater Georgetown. Earlier road works there were meant to reach Aubrey Barker Road in South Ruimveldt. They were tied to 1,000 young professional and low-income housing units.
The scheme has two sections, and each is at a different stage. The Department of Public Information said the northern section has over 450 finished homes with two or three bedrooms. The homes are turn-key, which means each one is finished and ready to move into. The area also has concrete roads inside it, a police outpost and shared open spaces.
Lots have been allocated in the southern section. The department said the first phase of infrastructure is already installed there. This includes electrical networks and pipelines.
In November 2023, the Ministry of Housing and Water said about 800 allottees in the Cummings Lodge 1767 development would get access to their land. It said six contractors were laying pipes, roads and drainage under a deadline.
Minister of Housing Collin Croal said every kind of vehicle should be able to use the eastern end of the new roads within a week. He said work on the western end should finish within two weeks.
