Two-day conference to focus on financial tools that value biodiversity
Guyana has earned US$353 million from carbon credit sales since 2022, and it points to that record when it argues for biodiversity finance.

A two-day conference will focus on building financial tools that recognise the value of biodiversity. Its theme is "Investing in Nature: From Global Commitments to Practical Action."
iNews Guyana reported the details on 20 October 2026.
NationNews reported that the 2026 event is the Second GBA Conference and Financing Forum. The paper said it belongs to Guyana Nature and Biodiversity Finance Week.
NationNews said the topics include multilateral funding, blended finance, carbon markets and biodiversity markets, and green and biodiversity bonds. The paper said guests will include scientists, investors, financial institutions, Indigenous Peoples, local communities and political leaders.
Guyana has a record in carbon credit sales to point to. The Department of Public Information said the country has earned US$353 million from selling carbon credits since 2022. That money funds the LCDS 2030.
Guyana points to this record when it argues for biodiversity finance.
The credits were first issued in November 2022. That month Guyana became the first country to be issued jurisdictional-scale carbon credits under the ART-TREES standard. About 33 million credits were issued for the years 2016 to 2020.
NationNews reported that the conference runs on 30 and 31 October.
