R.R. Enterprise wins $108.3 million Micobie school lab contract

Kaieteur News reported the new award, which follows an earlier $253,561,500 contract for the Region Eight school that went to another firm.

NK Engineering Services first won the contract to build the Micobie secondary school. The price was $253,561,500. That contract went out after competitive bidding, a process in which firms compete for the work.

Stabroek News reported on 23 May 2025 that the Education Minister had announced the end of the NK Engineering contract. The reason given was that the contractor failed to deliver.

Kaieteur News has now reported a new award for the same school. R.R. Enterprise won a $108.3 million contract from NPTAB, the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board, to build laboratories at Block C. The new money comes on top of $253 million earlier set aside for the school.

Kaieteur News published that report on 17 October 2026.

Kaieteur News reported, citing the Ministry's information, that the first contract covered the following. The $253 million contract included a staff room, plus 10 classrooms. Five of those rooms were specialised labs.

In August 2026, Kaieteur News also reported a further tender of about $135.6 million for laboratories at Block C. The paper said 40 applicants came forward.

According to Kaieteur News, the school has still not been commissioned.

The story was first reported by Kaieteur News.
