EPA says Adsol Service Inc poultry facility needs no impact study

The EPA says this finding does not mean the project is approved.

The Environmental Protection Agency says a planned poultry rearing facility will not greatly affect the environment. Adsol Service Inc plans the facility. So the project does not need an Environmental Impact Assessment. That is a formal study of how a project could affect the environment.

The agency made the decision public in a notice published on 19 October 2026. It had checked Adsol Service Inc's application for an environmental permit. The site is at Tract `E` Yarrowkabra Newtown Extension Soesdyke Linden H/Way.

The agency has made similar calls on other projects. It said the Gold Hill Sand Project will not greatly affect the environment. The project is a sand mine of CEALT Logistics Inc., and it needs no Environmental Impact Assessment. The agency reached the same finding on The Arcade. Peak Development Inc. proposed this multi-purpose commercial facility at Providence, East Bank Demerara.

Kaieteur News reported that Guyana's Agriculture Minister told Parliament in 2026 that the country makes enough poultry for its own needs. He said some chicken parts can still be imported, in limited amounts, because demand has grown in the extractive and hospitality sectors.

The agency warned that this is not a green light. It said the finding that no impact assessment is needed does not mean the project is approved.

People who may be affected by the project can appeal the decision. They have thirty days from the day the notice was published.
